BVSD is involved in a district-wide initiative to improve indoor air quality in Boulder Valley Schools. To help with this project, we are making a small change in the way we collect information about health-related student absences.
Beginning this school year, when you call your school to report your child’s health-related absence, you will be asked to identify the reason for the absence from this list: *Asthma *Respiratory but not asthma (such as runny nose, sore throat, congestion or cough) *Gastrointestinal (such as stomache ache, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea) *Other health-related reason You can also report absences online via a form on your school’s website. Providing this information is optional. The information will be logged in a way that is not personally identifiable. BVSD is collecting this information to understand how air quality may be affecting student health and absenteeism. The data will be evaluated to make recommendations for building operations and occupant behavior and to identify facility renovations to improve indoor air quality. Learn more here.
