** Please join us to discuss next year’s board with Assistant Principal Eric Moroye. We will be meeting on Friday, April 19th at 12:30p.m. at Monarch in the Coyote Learning Commons room.
We are recruiting for many positions on the board for the next school year. We especially need the President and Vice President positions filled. Monarch After Prom is a volunteer supported and community sponsored evening of fun immediately following prom.
… And with a big thank you to the generosity of parents and local businesses, we have been able to host a safe, fun, substance-free event for our high school seniors and juniors since 1991. Today, After Prom is attended by more than 600 Monarch High School students and their dates.
This year the event will be at The Sports Stable in Superior — providing us with a fantastic location to host an event that will include a casino, spa, entertainers, a DJ, ice skating and more along with the opportunity to win awesome prizes!

Tickets are on sale now! $7.50 per person
Important, please note if your student is bringing a guest from another school — they need to visit the Monarch High School front office and get a copy of the Approval Form. This is the same form they need to have completed for Prom. Your student needs to please provide the form to their guest so they can get approval to attend After Prom.

VOLUNTEER
To continue the tradition and make this years event a high success, we are looking for volunteers and donations. We will have a variety of roles and donation requests for the night — from being a casino dealer to donating food and beverage items.

2018-19 Course Selection Update
Counselors were in Social Studies classrooms on February 22nd, 25th, or 26th to talk with students about course selection for the 2019-2020 school year. Students received course request forms at that time. Counselors returned to classrooms to check course input on 3/8, 3/11, 3/12. Students who have not yet turned in their course request sheet (with signatures) or have not yet entered their course requests need to see their counselor.
SAT Strategies Session
Wednesday, March 20th from 8:30-9:30 in the auditorium. This is a great opportunity to learn some great strategies a couple weeks before you take the SAT!
CTE
SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: Check out all the Boulder CTEC has to offer. Deadline to sign up is March 17th.

Upcoming College Application Deadlines
SENIORS: Many colleges have upcoming application deadlines in March – plan ahead! Be sure to check your schools’ websites in order to determine your deadlines. Order your transcripts at least a week in advance and request letters of recommendation a month in advance. Remember, if you order paper transcripts you must pick them up and send them.

College Rep Visits
College reps from colleges all over the country (and beyond) come to the Monarch High School Post Grad Center to meet prospective students. Be sure to check out the upcoming college visits on Naviance. Students must sign up through Naviance in order to have their absence excused.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
FAFSA went live on October 1st and seniors/parents NEED to submit it as soon as possible for consideration for many financial aid opportunities as well as many scholarships.
REMEMBER: You must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you want to apply for federal and state financial aid for college. Many colleges and universities, especially public institutions, also require the FAFSA. Complete your FAFSA through www.fafsa.ed.gov/ (this is the official FREE application through the government).
SAT Colorado State Test
Remember, ALL JUNIORS in the state of Colorado will take the SAT on April 9th. This test is free and students DO NOT register online. Information about prep classes can be found on the counseling department’s website, in the counseling office, and online through Community Connections (A Student Resource Guide) at http://bvsd.org/guide/Pages/disclaimer.aspx. Pre-registration will be Monday, March 18th from 2:00-3:00pm.
PSAT 10
Reminder, ALL SOPHOMORES in the state of Colorado will take the PSAT 10 on April 10th. This test is free and students DO NOT register online. Pre-registration will be Monday, March 18th from 2:00-3:00pm.

Reminder, ALL FRESHMAN in the state of Colorado will take the PSAT 9 0n April 9h. This test is free and students DO NOT register online. Pre-registration will be Monday, March 18th from 2:00-3:00pm.
Online Courses- Spring 2018 Term
BVSD Online Spring 2018 Course Registration is closed with the exception of Credit Recovery Session 2!
Credit Recovery Session 2 Registration open through March 14th
Courses run March 19th through April 30th.
No late registration accepted.
Only students that have previously taken the course and earned a F or a D are eligible to take credit recovery courses. Credit recovery courses are open for 4 weeks (no extensions).

Close to 60 Monarch High Art Students will have work exhibited in this K-12 show!
The art show runs 3/7-3/31. Opening Night/Reception is on Thursday, March 7th from 5:30 – 7:30(4) Louisville Public Library.

Monarch Boys’ Ultimate Frisbee A team Beats Fairview and C Beats Brighton in Season Openers!
Lead by co-captains Tanner Fillion, Charlie Knott, and Tucker Peyok, the Boys’ A team slogged through mud and snow in Boulder to beat Fairview 12-1 on Thursday. Boys’ C team played at Brighton for a 10-7 win. Boys’ B team game against Peak to Peak was canceled due to snowy fields.
First girls’ game will be Tuesday 3/12 4:15 pm at Monarch K8 fields against Lakewood. Thursday 3/14 Boys’ A will host Denver East X squad at K8 fields, Boys’ B will play at Golden, and Boys’ C will host Centaurus.
MoHi teams are looking forward to hosting the SICkO tournament 4/6-7, attending Off the Deep End Tourney in Lakewood on 4/13-14, and sending players to Salt Lake City for the Lone Peak tournament 4/19-20.
With the conditions so far this season, Ultimate players have been found practicing in the MoHi hallways after school. Crossing our fingers for some sun and warmer temps!
