Welcome Monarch community to the start of the 2017 – 2018 school year! I trust that the opening weeks of this school year have been a positive experience and that the entire Monarch community is excited for the upcoming school year. I, for one, certainly am and I have enjoyed getting to know the Monarch staff, students, and parents. Thank you to all of those that have made the start of my tenure as Principal of Monarch welcoming, supportive, and encouraging.
Being that this is my first introduction to the greater Monarch community, I feel that it is important to provide you a little information about myself. Let me begin by stating that I have enjoyed being back in my childhood state (raised in Ft. Collins) after residing in the great Pacific Northwest (Salem, Oregon) for the past 18 years. Professionally, my 20 year educational career has afforded me the honor to teach at both the middle and high school levels, be a head varsity coach, and serve as a high school assistant principal, middle school principal, and central office administrator. My career in education began in Ft. Collins where I taught at Boltz Junior High School and coached at Rocky Mountain High School, while the past 18 years as seen me be a teacher and administrator within the Salem-Keizer School District in Salem, Oregon. Educationally, I graduated high school from Rocky Mountain, obtained my undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College, and my master’s degree from Portland State University. Outside of work, my wife and I have three children (13, 11, and 7) and enjoy good food, being active in the outdoors, spending time with friends, and being together as a family. I am truly excited to be returning to Colorado and humbled that I can become a part of the Monarch team and the Boulder Valley School District.
I look forward to meeting you all and experiencing all that the Monarch community has to offer. Thank you for your continued support of Monarch High School.
Principal, Monarch High School
