Marching Band Finishes Fifth in State Finals!

“Let’s be AMAZING!!” These three words were next to the Marching Band’s performance time for each competition and they took those words to heart. Monarch Marching Band could have struggled with the changes that the band had to contend with this year–a change in staff, a new band director, and a move from 4A to 5A–but they took it all in stride, worked hard, and had their best year ever! Drum majors Sarah Fowle, Paige Smith, and Daniel Wilson did a fabulous job of leading the band of 112 students. New director Chuck Stephen, along with Dan Pinkston, Clare Church, and a great staff (many of whom are Monarch High School alumni) provided the instruction they needed to excel. The season culminated in a fifth place finish at the Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA) State Championships with their highest score to date for their show “Spanish Fantasy.”

Next for many of these musicians, in addition to performing in Monarch High School’s concert or jazz bands, orchestra and/or choir, is the winter season. Monarch Indoor Percussion and Monarch Winter Guard have started practices and also hope for a great season this year. You can find more information about these groups and the entire music department at our new website: www.monarchmusicboosters.org. Thanks for your support!
