Come one, come all – boy or girl, accomplished athlete or just starting out – the Monarch Ultimate Frisbee Teams have a spot on a roster for you. Expecting over 100 athletes to take up the co-ed sport this fall, Head Coach Finlay Waugh anticipates the Coyotes will boast 4 mixed teams this season; 2 Varsity and 2 JV.
Coming off a huge win last spring as the State Champion Open (Boys) Division, Ultimate continues to grow at Monarch. Scores of returning veterans and 12 returning coaches from the spring season will shepherd all incoming rookies and continue to bolster the ever-popular sport.
All students are welcome and rosters are not finalized until September 7th, so any prospective rookie is encouraged to check out a practice even though they are already underway. This may be the only high school sport where experience is not required – you will learn all you need to know and grow as an athlete to enjoy being a part of our competitive teams.
Practices started on Monday, August 28 and the first league game is Thursday, Sept. 7. The season runs eight weeks and culminates on Nov. 11-12 with the Colorado State Championships. Practices are held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:15 – 5:15. If you have any interest, please come on out to “The Bowl” (field near the library) and join in the action.
