Girls’ Swim and Dive Team Excels at State!

The Monarch High School Girls’ Swim Team, coached by Melanie Beard, competed in the 5A State Championships February 12-13. The state team consisted of Sydney Atkinson, Anna Barjenbruch, Jennika Kelm, Squid Morganstein, Megan Mitchell, Randi Rens, Courtney Roeber, Sidney Trimm, Stephanie Tymoszuk, Quinn Webster, and Brie Yost as well as captains, Jamie Commander and Addie Hobbs.

 

MHS finished in 15th place overall, improving upon their 16th place finish from 2015. Placing in the finals as individuals were Courtney Roeber, who was 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke and 6th in the 50 Freestyle, and Sidney Trimm, who was 7th in the 50 Freestyle and 14th in the 100 Butterfly.

 

In addition, MHS finished 12th in the 200 Medley Relay and 16th in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The Medley Relay included Randi Rens (Backstroke), Courtney Roeber (Breaststroke), Sidney Trimm (Butterfly), and Jennika Kelm (Freestyle). The Freestyle Relay included Jennika Kelm, Quinn Webster, Stephanie Tymoszuk, and Sidney Trimm.
