Frequently Asked Questions

What is our Purpose?

The Monarch Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our school administration, staff, and the education of our students. We strive to accomplish these goals through raising significant funds for use in the classroom, for staff development, and for building and sustaining our school community. Additionally, we coordinate many volunteer activities and events, provide a forum for parent education and communication, and serve as a parent-based liaison between our school and the district. We also produce the monthly online school newsletter Complete Coyote Coverage, distributed throughout our school community.

When did the PTSO begin?

The PTSO was first established in 2010. We are joining other established local high schools that have highly successful parent organizations. We are committed to keeping the coyote pack strong at Monarch High School and taking MHS to the next level!

What is the “Coyote Canvas”?

The “Coyote Canvas” is the name of our annual direct appeal fundraising campaign in the fall to support the next academic year. The money raised by the PTSO directly funds an expanding list of efforts and items at the school, including instructional support, academic technology, staff development, parent education and forums, and building improvements. We are excited to be able to fund a portion of the resources the MHS community needs in order to create brighter futures for our students!

How can I get involved?

There are countless ways to be involved with the PTSO. Parents do not have to “join” to be involved at MHS, nor do parents have to attend all PTSO meetings. We have many varied activities to attend and many volunteer opportunities that we encourage you to find out about at www.monarchptso.org/volunteer. In the meantime, please go browse this site for more information. We welcome you to MHS and the PTSO!

Who is involved? When do we meet?

We welcome all parents, guardians, teachers, and students to be active in the PTSO. Our principal, Neil Anderson, attends the PTSO meetings and gives a Principal’s Report filled with pertinent, relevant information to the MHS community. Our meeting dates and times are listed on our website. We think that you will find this time informative.
