Monarch High School is known throughout the state for its championship-winning Ultimate teams. The three goals of the Ultimate program are:
- Have fun
- Learn some skills
- Have fun
We repeat “have fun” to emphasize its importance.
In the fall, boys and girls compete together on co-ed teams for mixed play. During the spring season, boys and girls compete on separate teams. Ultimate is a club sport, so participants are not required to submit proof of a physical exam. All are welcome to play Ultimate, and there are never any cuts.
This fall, we have a total of four teams: two varsity and two junior varsity. All players practice on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-5:15 p.m., and games are on Thursdays. The varsity teams practice at the Louisville Sports Complex, and the junior varsity teams and rookies practice at Monarch K-8 Elementary School.
The season kicked off on September 10, and will wrap up with the state tournament on November 14-15.
We’re off to a great start with all four teams bringing home victories last week; well, one was a forfeit, but we’ll take it!
It’s not too late to join, and it’s really not too late to come cheer us on. There are games at Louisville Sports Complex and Monarch K-8 Elementary School every Thursday at 4:00, so come and see what Ultimate is all about!
